Jokes by Sarpa: from the group chat that never ends

See tickets below

From: Ōtepoti | Dunedin

Sarpa, Reuben, Josh, and Gerard all started comedy around the same time, bonding over punchlines and stolen laughs as they grew into the scene. Together, they were unstoppable, travelling from open mics to showcases—tight as thieves. Then life intervened: Sarpa moved back to Turkey, but the friendship didn’t end.

Now the group keeps their connection alive through a group chat they call "brubs" (a nickname no one’s fessed up to creating—but everyone blames Gerard). As Sarpa writes jokes from Istanbul for the boys to perform on stage, he finds himself grappling with more than just punchlines.

This show isn’t just about jokes—it’s about what happens when distance sneaks into a friendship and how humor becomes a way of saying “I miss you.”

Through shared memories and inside jokes, Jokes from Sarpa is a bittersweet reminder that sometimes comedy is the best way to keep the people we love close, even when they’re far away. A boyish equivalent of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants – if the pants were a bunch of dumb jokes and awkward voice and video notes.
